Latest guide The Fingernail Test: When a Car Scratch Can't Be Buffed Out

Where the advice comes from

Guides are based on hands-on detailing work. If a guide says a method works, it is because we have used it on real cars. If we have not done something ourselves, we either say so plainly or leave it out.

How products get recommended

A recommendation is based on:

  • Products we test, and products we have used on jobs before.
  • The features of the product and what it is built to do.
  • Customer reviews and feedback from people who bought it.
  • What other working detailers use.

When we recommend a product we have not used ourselves, the guide says so.

The same rules apply to every pick:

  • Nobody can pay to be included in a guide or to be ranked higher.
  • If a cheaper product does the same job, we say that.
  • Some product links are affiliate links. That is covered on the affiliate disclosure page.

How we use AI tools

We use AI tools to help outline, draft and edit. They speed up the typing. They do not supply the knowledge. Every guide is read, corrected and approved by a detailer before it goes up, and nothing is published that we would not say to a customer in person.

Keeping guides current

Products change and so do methods. Each guide shows the date it was last updated. When something important changes, we revise the guide and change the date.
