Effective October 6, 2026. Last updated October 6, 2026.

This policy covers allthingsdetailing.com (the "site"), which is run by All Things Detailing ("we", "us"). It explains what information is collected when you visit, how it is used, and the choices you have.

The short version

  • You can read everything on the site without an account and without giving us your name.
  • The site has no accounts, no comment section and no checkout.
  • We do not sell your personal information.
  • Advertising, analytics and affiliate services may use cookies. You can turn those off, and this page shows you how.

Information we collect

Information you give us

If you email us, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you write or attach. We use it to reply, to fix or improve a guide, and to keep a record of the conversation.

Information collected automatically

  • Server logs. Our hosting provider records standard request data: your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you request, the page that referred you, and the date and time. Logs are used to keep the site running, find problems and stop abuse.
  • Analytics. We may use an analytics service, such as Google Analytics, to see which guides get read and how visitors find the site. It records things like pages viewed, your approximate location (country or city), your device and browser, and the site you came from. We look at totals, not at individual visitors.

Information we do not collect

We do not collect payment details. If you click a link and buy something, the purchase is handled by the retailer under its own privacy policy.

Cookies

A cookie is a small file a website stores in your browser. The site does not need cookies of its own to work. Cookies you receive while browsing come from the advertising, analytics and affiliate services described on this page.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site will still work if you do.

Advertising

This site may show ads from third-party vendors, including Google. When it does:

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your earlier visits to this site or other websites.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies lets it and its partners serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet.
  • You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google Ads Settings.
  • You can opt out of personalized ads from many other vendors at aboutads.info/choices, or at youronlinechoices.eu if you are in Europe.

Google explains how it uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Affiliate links

Some links go to retailers through affiliate programs. When you click one, the retailer or its affiliate network may set a cookie so the sale can be credited to us. We receive sales reports that show what was bought and the commission earned. They do not tell us who you are. More on this is in the affiliate disclosure.

How we use information

  • To run the site and keep it secure.
  • To answer emails and correct guides.
  • To learn which guides are useful and what to write next.
  • To show ads and measure how they perform.
  • To get credit for affiliate sales.
  • To meet legal obligations.

Who information is shared with

We do not sell your personal information. Information is shared only in these cases:

  • Service providers. Companies that host the site, deliver our email and provide analytics handle information on our behalf.
  • Advertising and affiliate partners. These partners collect information directly through their own cookies, as described above. You can opt out using the links on this page.
  • Legal reasons. We may disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the site and its visitors.
  • A sale of the site. If the site is sold or merged, the information we hold may pass to the new owner, who will have to follow this policy or tell you about changes.

How long information is kept

  • Emails are kept for as long as they are useful for answering you or improving a guide.
  • Server logs are kept by our hosting provider for a limited period and then deleted.
  • Analytics data is kept for the period set in the analytics service and then deleted or anonymized.

Your choices and rights

  • Block or delete cookies in your browser.
  • Opt out of personalized ads using the links in the Advertising section.
  • Opt out of Google Analytics with Google's browser add-on.
  • Ask what information we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it. Email hello@allthingsdetailing.com.

Depending on where you live, the law may give you specific rights over your personal information, such as the right to see it, correct it, delete it, object to how it is used, or complain to a regulator. We respond to these requests wherever you live, and we will not treat you differently for making one.

Do Not Track

Some browsers can send a "Do Not Track" signal. There is no agreed standard for how websites should respond, so the site does not change its behavior when it receives one. The opt-outs above work either way.

Visitors from outside the United States

The site is run from the United States, and information is processed there. Privacy laws in the United States may differ from those where you live.

If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we rely on your consent for advertising and analytics cookies, and on our legitimate interest in running and securing the site for server logs and email. Where the law requires consent, you will be asked before those cookies are used, and you can withdraw it at any time.

Children

The site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email us and we will delete it.

Security

The site is served over an encrypted connection, and access to our email and hosting accounts is restricted. No website can promise perfect security, so please do not email us anything sensitive.

Links to other websites

Guides link to retailers and other websites. Once you leave this site, the other site's privacy policy applies.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date. If a change is significant, we will say so at the top of the page.
